About Our Company

Patrick’s Press was started in 1981, by John P. Campbell with the publication of his 113 page Academic Bowl Material.  This booklet was soon replaced by his 524 page Campbell’s High School/College Quiz Book, then replaced in 2003 by Campbell’s High School/College Book of Lists.  Campbell’s Constant Quiz Companion:  the Middle/High School Book of Lists, Terms, and Questions has recently been revised and is accompanied by a CD-ROM version.  Company president and author John Campbell now has a total of 12 quiz books still in print for the elementary, middle and high school levels.

From the beginning, Patrick’s Press has produced and marketed competition questions and received high marks for their quality.  Besides customizing questions for specific competitions, the company offers packets of toss-up and bonus questions, all toss-ups, and lightning rounds or theme rounds (and some written assessment rounds).

Patrick’s Press also offers 2 weekly publications of questions and answers as preparatory materials for academic competitions:  a 6 page Accent on Academics for high school, in its 22nd year, and a 4-page Middle School Weekly, in its 21st year.

His new books, Trivia for Dunces, Trivia for Dunces II, and Three Cheers for the Red, White, and Blue and Other Famous 3's, are written for the general public and will be released in October-November 2006.

In accord with its goal of  “one-stop” shopping for academic bowl competitions, Patrick’s press also offers the QUIK PRO line of lockout buzzer systems, some carefully selected reference books from other publishers, and its own questions and answers on both audio tape and computer diskettes and CDs.

The company is proud to have provided study materials for Peter Scott, a Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions contestant, and to have had him mention our Accent on Academics in his 1999 Forbes FYI article on being a Jeopardy! contestant.
